How to clean a water bottle?

This tutorial is suitable for stainless steel, aluminum, glass and BPA-free plastic water bottles.

First of all, buy a brush or a swab. This cylindrical brush has a handle and a head. It is usually used to clean baby bottles.

    • Soak the brush in dishwashing liquid and run it inside the bottle. Scrub as much as possible to clean the sides.
    • Clean the top of the bottle with a sponge and washing up liquid.
    • If you clean your bottle every two or three days in this way, you will limit the appearance of bacteria. Of course, don't hesitate to change the brush as you would with a regular sponge.

If you forgot your water bottle in a bag and left a hot drink to dry, dirt and mold can appear. Also, if you have forgotten to clean your bottle for a while, do it the hard way!

    • Put dishwashing liquid inside the bottle and fill it with hot water. If there is any residue, wait about 20 minutes and drain the soapy water. Otherwise, let it sit for less than five minutes.
    • If you are concerned about mildew, fill the canteen with half white vinegar and half hot water. Close it and leave it overnight.

Unpleasant odors can only appear if you have left your bottle closed for a long time. A bad taste can also appear.

Please note: stainless steel is the material that best removes these unpleasant odors and taste. Unlike plastic and glass, it is a healthy material that prevents material migration.

    • Pour in about 80 grams of baking soda, 60 grams of rice, washing up liquid and hot water. The mixture should reach halfway. Close and shake. Unscrew, empty and let air dry.
